History of Epcot

Epcot is the second theme park built at the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida. Epcot is a unique park full of discovery, high tech fun and imagination combined with the wonder of diverse cultures in two distinct worlds, Future World and World Showcase. EPCOT, the second oldest of Disney's Floridian theme parks was opened in 1982, and will probably need two days if you want to see and do everything within the park, (One day in Future World, and one day around the World Showcase, however many may find it less interesting than The Magic Kingdom or the Disney MGM Studios.

Epcot is neatly divided into two areas: Future World and World Showcase. EPCOT Center evolved not out of the narrative tradition which Disneyland sought to evoke, but out of the documentary tradition of Disney's Man in Space and other programs. Epcot, the Walt Disney World celebration of human achievement and discovery, is a one-stop vacation spot for all of that. Epcot is the site for one-of-a-kind world entertainment and special events, including the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, one of the world's largest outdoor festivals of its kind;Epcot International Food and Wine Festival; and Epcot Summer Series, featuring world-renowned live entertainment.

EPCOT has an abundance of possibility, sitting there waiting to be discovered. Epcot Center offers a variety of major attractions, such as the exciting Test Track, which takes riders outside the pavilion to test the high speed capability of new cars, and the brand new Mission Space, which exposes riders to G-forces similar to those in space. To commemorate the opening of EPCOT Center in 1982, the Imagineers who worked on the project put together a massive cake that was a scale model of the park. Everything in EPCOT will be dedicated to the happiness of the people who live, work, and play here, and those who come here from around the world to visit our living showcase.
